BaseCamp 2019

Locarno Film Festival invited a group of five NCCR MSE PhD students to join the "BaseCamp" initiative from August 12 to August 17 where they joined 200 international young talents coming from different artistic disciplines (music, graphic, photography, interaction design, etc.):

  • Students from the Swiss Art and Cinema Schools (HEAD, ZHDK, HSLU, ECAL, CISA)
  • Students from the best European Cinema Schools
  • Talents coming from all over the world, who have already participated in the previous Locarno Academy editions and who represent young promises of the
  • Film Industry, from directors to critics and many other fields of cinema.
  • A group of young photographers that will create a fanzine for the Locarno Film Festival

The program included discovering lesser-known Festival initiatives, exchange and learning opportunities, such as Filmmakers Academy screenings, professional Masterclasses, meetings dedicated to the Swiss cinema organized by the Locarno Academy for young people, artistic performances beyond the official program and a science night organized by the NCCR MSE group.
BaseCamp was a great opportunity for our young researchers to connect with visual artists from all over the world and to develop the possibilities and potential of visualizing the MSE NCCR research.
