Maestro Method

"Maestro Method" is an out of the lab learning tool for our young as well as our experienced scientists. The idea behind it is that by gaining insight into work processes and methodological approaches implemented successfully by non-scientists we may enhance and improve our own professional skills.

During our first Maestro Method session a group of 10 NCCR MSE scientists including director Tom Ward sat in a rehearsal of the renowned Swiss orchestra argovia philharmonic. After listening to the evolving musical performance along with the inspiring interaction and dialogues between the orchestra and its conductor, the NCCR team met with maestro Douglos Bostock. They discussed the challenges of guiding a 70 piece orchestra into an artistic performance that in the evening would touch and convince an audience of 400 people - amongst them the NCCR MSE scientists.
