Locarno Film Festival 2023

The NCCR MSE is thrilled to invite 5 of its young researchers (PhD/Postdoc) to the Locarno Film Festival 2023! For the fourth time in a row, we will participate in the festival’s BaseCamp Laboratory of Ideas and connect with 150 audio-visual creatives from all over the world – truly a once in a lifetime experience. If you are interested in contemporary art, Art-Science collaboration & Social Media (i.e. you are posting and producing regularly on your channels) and would like to improve your science communication skills this could be your chance! You want to join our NCCR embassador team to the Locarno Film Festival? Then send us your colourful and creative application (one-page word document, pics welcome) and

• introduce yourself
• tell us all about your interests in science and art
• convince us about your PR- and social media talents and why you are the one we should send to Locarno

About the festival

Over the seventy-plus years of its history, the Locarno Film Festival has earned a secure position on the leading edge of the prestigious international film festival scene. Lying at the heart of Italian-speaking Switzerland on the shore of Lake Maggiore, with the Alps at its back, Locarno is transformed for eleven days each August into the world capital of auteur cinema.

This year’s edition will take place from 2 - 13 August 2023 in - you guessed it - Locarno, Ticino. Prior to the festival we will welcome up to five young BaseCamp artists in Basel in order get to know each other.
